HOLY SPIRIT II

I baptize you with water for repentance.  But after me will come ONE who is more powerful than I,
whose sandals I am not fit to carry.  HE will baptize you with the HOLY SPIRIT and with fire.
Matthew 3:11

As soon as JESUS was baptized, HE went up out of the water.
At that moment heaven was opened, and HE saw the SPIRIT of GOD
descending like a dove and lighting on HIM. 
Matthew 3:16

 

When JESUS allowed John to baptize HIM, the SPIRIT immediately came and rested on HIM.  This is a demonstration of a natural series of events that still happens today.  And it will continue until this age ends.

Here's how it works . . .  

1.  We receive JESUS as our SAVIOR
2.  We are baptized in water.
3.  The HOLY SPIRIT comes upon us.

Easy as 1-2-3!  

You see, water baptism is not just a "quaint little symbolic act."  It is something that John the Baptist and JESUS both validated as the accepted method of becoming part of the family of CREATOR!  It really is not an option.  It is an instruction!  

It is the ending of an old life and the beginning of a new.  It is an act of surrender and cleansing of the heart.  I believe that the HOLY SPIRIT waits and hovers near a new follower of JESUS for that time of baptism and then descends upon us just like HE did with JESUS.

So, for anyone who has had bad teaching that baptism was just a nice ceremony and an optional element of our Walk, please make arrangements right away to be baptized.  Then count on the HOLY SPIRIT to come immediately and rest on your life.

Remember that when this takes place, it is a beginning not an end.  Now you are in obedience and submission to the Plan of the CREATOR.  Now you are positioned to receive all the rest that the SPIRIT has for you.
