Searching the net for the lost of GOD

 
As soon as JESUS was baptized, HE went up out of the water.
At that moment heaven was opened, and HE saw the SPIRIT of GOD
descending like a dove and lighting on HIM. 
Matthew 3:16

Why is the SPIRIT depicted so often as a dove?  Have you ever wondered?  So have I.  So let's talk . . .

Why not an eagle or hawk.  These birds are symbolic of power and majesty!  But they are predator birds.  They prey upon smaller and weaker animals.  Won't work.

Sparrow?  Too helpless.  Woodpecker?  I don't think so.  Way to noisy.  Pelican?  Self centered.  Hummingbird?  Too much caffeine!

So I asked the HOLY SPIRIT, "Why the dove?"  Remember, that is what we are to do.  Ask HIM when we don't know.  The answer is simple.  What does mankind lack so much in our natural state?

Peace!  Of course!

I just checked something.  The word, Peace is mentioned at least 92 times in the New Testament.  That is reassuring, isn't it?  

What did JESUS always have with HIM?  Peace!  And the message here is that HE was not born with it.  HE received it when the Dove of Peace rested upon HIM. 

The characteristic of Peace made JESUS irresistible.  In the midst of every storm, JESUS remained Peaceful.  Remember, this was the result of the resting of the HOLY SPIRIT on HIS life.

Do you need that peace today?  It is so readily available for you.  HE said this to us before HE went away . . .

^{John 14:27  "}Peace I leave with you; MY peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid"

and

^{John 16:33}  "I have told you these things, so that in ME you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world."

How very important to JESUS to equip HIS followers.  Peace has such great power.  More power than all the worlds so-called strength.  When everything in us and around us fails, Peace will see us through.  It's children are patience and endurance.  It is not this world's version of peace that depends on everything being neatly arranged.  This heavenly Peace stands in power and durability!

Thank the Great HOLY SPIRIT today and live a saturated life in HIS Peace!
