When the congregation was
dismissed, many of the Jews and devout converts to Judaism followed Paul and Barnabas, who
talked with them and urged them to continue in the grace of God.
Here we have a scene that has repeated itself again and again through the ages. Church was over, and hungry people stayed to talk to the preachers. They shared what was going on in their lives, and the message bearers bore the message.
And the message is . . . . . "Continue in the Grace of GOD!" That has always been the true message. JESUS is the Word of GOD made flesh. We are the children of GOD in the flesh. JESUS bore the message of the Grace of GOD, and we are the intended receivers.
Question: What happened to the rest of the group when the service ended? Home? Restaurant? The beach? Baseball? Football? Nap? Nothing wrong with these things, but . . .
. . . . at least some had no room in their hands to receive the message. Here is what I mean . . .
In order to receive a gift you must have room in your hands. Another way to say it is you must be hungry. When we have difficulty in life, we can solve our own problem, or we can fall at the feet of JESUS! I choose the second.
You see, I have solved too many of my trials by myself. Over the years I have learned it is better to trust in HIM. So, I keep my hands open and empty to receive, or as Paul and Barnabas urged the hungry people, to continue in the Grace of GOD.
And when I do, HE is always faithful!
