Beatitudes - being blessed

Matthew Chapter 5 11
"God blesses you when you are mocked and persecuted and lied about
because you are my followers. 12
Be happy about it! Be very glad! For a great reward awaits you in heaven. And
remember, the ancient prophets were persecuted, too. Do
you know what is one of the hardest things we will ever do? I do. Would
you like to know too? Simple. Be
happy when you are persecuted. Why is this hard? Well, I think it is
hard because we are built to be happy when great things happen, like birthdays
(yesterday was mine), winning things, getting raises, buying new toys, etc. But,
JESUS HIMSELF
said we should be happy when we are lied about, mocked and persecuted, because we
are HIS followers! Just
ain't natural for us! But, JESUS
goes on and says, "Be happy about it!
Be very glad! For a great reward awaits you in heaven." That
is good news. No, that is excellent news! There is great reward coming
for us in heaven, which is our home, if we follow JESUS! Think
about it. Are you saving for retirement in this world? Great! But
are you saving for retirement in the next world? Even greater! There
is a time coming when JESUS will welcome you to
your everlasting home. Can you just imagine for a moment JESUS
saying, "Well done, my good and faithful servant?" That
in itself will be the greatest reward. So, be happy now when things get tough
because you are following HIM! For great
is your reward! Got JESUS?
