 James Chapter 1
The Less Popular Gospel

1 James , a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, to the twelve tribes which are scattered abroad, greeting.
2 My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations;

Do you?  I don't.  Well, I don't right away.  But sometimes I do when I think about it a bit.

Do what?  Verse 2 says I should be joyful about falling into temptation.  We will be looking at the Book of James over the next bit of time.  I hope you have time to join me.

We are to be glad when we fall into various temptation.  Stop and think about that.  You can also read trouble for the word temptation.  When trouble comes our immediate reactions are something like panic, dismay, fear, doubt, and many other negative emotions.

But James is asking us to rethink our natural stance.  We are to be disciplined.  That is because if we trust JESUS as LORD and SAVIOR we are HIS disciples and that word is from the word discipline.

Tomorrow we will delve into the reasons for being joyful in temptation.  But for now, I will give you one good reason.  We grow in times of trouble.  Pure and simple.  Our growth as followers of the JESUS Path comes when we react properly to trouble.

I know this isn't often taught.  We expect our faith to bring us to the top of the mountain and leave us there!  But, our greatest experience of the LORD'S love, care and guidance comes way down in the valleys of life.

Not a popular saying, but the Truth nonetheless.  Tune in tomorrow to see more on this topic.
