- The Only Way John
14:6
Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the
life. No one comes to the Father except through me. Everyone
has a "god." There are so many ways to find those gods. Most
"gods" seem to require hard work. Some require "good
deeds." Some require years of training, study and discipline. Now I
am not talking about after one finds the "god." I am talking about how
to find the god. There is something
utterly different about true Christianity, and it is fascinating. There is a
way to find the GOD of Christianity. Not
by study, obedience, sacrifice, penance, prayer, discipline, acts of valor, joining
a monastery. . . . The Way to the GOD of
Christianity is a person! Not
that studying, discipline, prayer, etc are not good things, they just cannot reunite
sinful people with a Holy GOD. Think of it
like this: You become trapped in a
room. The room is sometimes comfortable, but still you are trapped.
There seems to be no way out. You know that you will soon need food and water
in order to survive. You try breaking the walls, studying the construction of
the walls, beating your head against the walls. Nothing seems to work. Suddenly
there appears a door. You walk through it and you are free! JESUS
is that door in life. No amount of our work will ever make us right with GOD.
Only walking through the "Door" will bring us back to HIM. And
there is only one door. Notice that JESUS
said, in the Scripture above, "No one comes to the FATHER
except through ME!" That is a
strong claim, and it is also a true one. Rejoice
today, that HE makes no requirements on how
intelligent, hard-working, duty-bound or perfect we must be. We just have to
