have been my hope, O SOVEREIGN LORD, my confidence since
my youth.
When I was a little boy, I just knew there was a GOD. You did to, if you can remember. I knew it! Nobody told me. One of my daughters, at the age of 2, told us that JESUS lived up there (pointing to the sky). She just knew. Nobody told her.
Do not be so arrogant to think that at some point in your adult life, "You found GOD!" Sorry for calling you arrogant. Now I do believe that at some point in our lives we need to be changed from the person of dead flesh that we were to the person of living spirit that we are. But that is because as we grew, we became more subservient to the fallen nature of this world.
Now I don't mean that we are born saved, lose or salvation and get saved again . . . . What I mean is that (OK, I will admit this is an opinion, but I really think it is right) every child in the world grows knowing that there is a MIGHTY GOD that is the MASTER of all things visible and invisible! We just know it! Then we let "reality" shape our minds to the point that we can't find HIM anymore. That is why we struggle with so many forms of religion in this world (of which atheism is a major religion). They are all man's attempt to find or eradicate the GOD we lost.

What's the point? It is this. And it is Hope! We can say with David that "YOU have been my hope, O SOVEREIGN LORD, my confidence since my youth." And if HE is our Hope and Confidence, what power in this world can ever stop us? What trial can ever defeat us? Can't happen! We are based on the most solid FOUNDATION in the universe!!
