His provision
The
telephone rings. "Oh no!" You really do have a full schedule to day and you
could well do without all these little interruptions. You look at you watch, toss the
car keys onto the telephone table and pick up the receiver. "Hello." You say
trying not to let the strain sound in your voice. "Hello," a voice says,
"are you alright?" "Err, yes thanks. Who is this?" Slightly
confused. "It's Jesus." The voice answers. "What, Jesus as in the
son of God?" You ask. "Yes. I was a little concerned that I hadn't heard
from you in a while." He says. "Oh Jesus, I'm so sorry. Things have been so
hectic recently." "I know," Jesus says forgivingly. "I understand
that you live in fast moving times." "And there's all the worry about
changing the children's school and the prospects of the new job and hopefully a company
car..." You blurt out searching for excuses. "You shouldn't worry,"
Jesus says, "it's all taken care of." "You mean I get the job?"
You ask. "I didn't say that. I said it's all taken care of." "And
the children's school?" You ask. "Everything is taken care of." Jesus
says again. "But if I get the job and the children move to the new school I'll
certainly need the company car....but if you say it's all taken care of then I guess I
get the car too?" "I didn't say that." Jesus repeats. "You're
looking at the details while I look at the whole picture. The details don't matter, it's
your whole life that I look at." "Are you saying that I don't get the job,
Jesus?" You ask, concerned. "It doesn't matter whether you get the job or
not." Jesus explains. "I'm saying that your destiny is taken care of. All will
be well." "But, Jesus, I have to make the journey to my destiny as smooth
and comfortable as possible...." There is
a moments silence then Jesus speaks again. "If your child wrote a prize winning
article would you concern yourself with such trivia as to which pen they used to write
the article?" He asks. "Of course not." You reply. "The pen has
nothing to do with the content of the article." "And if they didn't have a
pen wouldn't you provide one so that the beautiful article could be completed?" "Of
course, Lord," "Then don't concern yourself with the trivia of life."
Jesus tells you. "I will provide." Don't
wait for the phone to ring, just call on the Lord an thank Him for His provision. |
