Saturday Wrap #197

Psalm 23

Continuing in the promises, prayers and predictions connected to the twenty-third Psalm.

Verse 5: Gifts and promises.

Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of my enemies; Thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.

In Praise:
In praise to the God of creation we see in Psalm 104:15 the table which God has prepared for us, "
And wine that maketh glad the heart of man, and oil to make his face to shine and bread that strengthens man's heart."

On a personal note, since the Psalms were written about 1000 years before the coming of Christ I like to think that this may have been something of a prediction or promise of the coming of Christ. The table being a feast and the feast being the blood and flesh of the Savoir. (bread and wine) ...what do you think?

"Thou anointest my head with oil" also seen in Psalm 92:10
(include verse 9 for clarity), 92:9 "For, lo, Thine enemies, O Lord, for low, Thine enemies shall perish; all the workers of iniquity shall be scattered. 92:10 But my horn shalt Thou exalt like the horn of a wild ox; I shall be anointed with fresh oil."

Do you know that your cup runneth over or do you feel in short measure? You should ask the Lord for His blessings and for the ability to measure them well.

Let the Lord guide you and be your shepherd.
