Saturday Wrap #210
Pass
it on: We read in Wednesday's 5 Minute Praise by brother Fred, that neither is patience a passive thing. Like Joy, it is a thing which is the result of some kind of effort or action. How many times have we been trying to impart an understanding to someone who simply doesn't understand what you are saying, and how many times have we felt that impatience begin to well up inside us. Impatience can lead to annoyance...even ill-temper if left unchecked. You can only learn to be patient if you practice patience. Furthermore, if you practice patience with say, a child, that child is also learning patience (by example) for when it is their turn to be the patient one. If you display your Joy in the Lord, a child (or anyone) will soon want to know how they too, can participate. It's a kind of 'teaching by example' or, a giving of the Spirit. Our example is Jesus, who is constantly showing us His infinite patience. So, ask your self, what right do we have not to be patient with others, and can anything happen to us here on earth that can justify us not feeling His Joy? We receive these gifts from our Lord and it is our duty to pass them on to others. |
