The Relationship between JESUS and HIS People - II
Fred Schwenk
as seen in Psalm 139
I will be discussing the characteristics of our relationship with JESUS. You may be surprised and delighted to know how deep it runs! |
Psalm 139
(New Living Translation)
For the choir director: A psalm of David.
2
YOU
know when I sit down or stand up.
YOU know my every thought when far away.
The LORD knows our thoughts
This can be a little disturbing. The LORD knows every thought we think. Does that disturb you?
The reason I say it is disturbing is that the thought process is sort of the trial area for everything we say or do. We rehearse our lives in our minds. Fortunately we choose not to act out some of our thoughts.
But, if you think of it,
our thoughts are a good indication of what is going on in our lives. We can see what motivates us by examining our thoughts. So can the LORD!
Here is a piece of good news. HE knows our deepest thinking and . . . HE still loves us with an everlasting love. Nothing we can think scares HIM off, repels HIM or disgusts HIM. Really!
Remember, as a follower of JESUS,
you are HIS child! HE is tuned in to our inner thought-life to be a Helper, not a Condemner!
Since our thoughts are the spawning ground for our actions, it is wonderful to have a partner in thinking who does not condemn, but guides.
Knowing this, we must be open to that leadership. That is how we grow.
