The Relationship between JESUS and HIS People -III
Fred Schwenk
as seen in Psalm 139
I will be discussing the characteristics of our relationship with JESUS. You may be surprised and delighted to know how deep it runs! |
Psalm 139
(New Living Translation)
For the choir director: A psalm of David.
3
YOU chart the path ahead of me
and tell me where to stop and rest.
Every moment YOU know where I am.
The LORD knows where we are
If you are a follower of or believer in JESUS, you are walking a path. Paths are nice because instead of being overgrown with brush and weeds, there is a comfortable walking space.
And, as opposed to wandering around in the jungle, paths are intentional. In order for the path to be there, someone walked it first, possibly many times, to clear the way.
When
we walk the Path of JESUS, it is only a path because HE walked it first. Our verse says HE charted the path. That means that it is not a random path, but one with meaning that leads somewhere important and special.
Application: Are you looking for meaning? Would you like to live out your full potential? Great news! The JESUS Path brings both! As you comply to the path, your life takes on more and more meaning and you grow closer to your potential.
Also, our path
takes us through some fairly rough and barren places. There is discouragement and grief on the path, as well as joy and happiness. It is good to know that no matter what our path takes us through, there is ONE who is on the path in front of us to lead us.
You see, it's not about just being on a carefree and happy-go-lucky path. That is just a fantasy. Every path in this world (and there are many) brings us to times of testing and strain.
I am so glad today that I am on a path that was built just for me by the ONE
who can guarantee success - JESUS!
Are you on HIS path for you?
