The Relationship between JESUS and HIS People - IV
Fred Schwenk
as seen in Psalm 139

I will be discussing the characteristics of our relationship with JESUS.  You may be surprised and delighted to know how deep it runs!

Psalm 139
(New Living Translation)
For the choir director:  A psalm of David.

YOU know what I am going to say
       even before I say it,
LORD.

The LORD knows what we are going to say

Isn't this truly amazing?  The LORD knows what we are going to say before we say it.  Guess who else does.  Right!  We do!

Do you understand how powerful our words are?  Do you realize that a small statement today can haunt you or bless you for the rest of your life?  Are there statements you have made that you wish to high heaven that you could take back?

I know there are things I have said that I wish so much that I had not said them.  But I have learned a trick.

Ask the LORD to put a guard on your mouth.  If you do, HE will.  You still have to power to say whatever is on your mind, but I promise that the LORD will warn you before you say something that you will pay for later.

I have gone both ways . . .   Sometimes I know if I say the next thought out loud it will cause trouble, and I say it anyway.  And guess what!?  It causes me trouble.  After years and much gray hair, I have learned when to keep my mouth shut.

And remember that a gentle answer turns aside wrath.  Oh, how I have seen this work.  It is like we are all hungry for someone to speak kind words to us, but it so rarely happens.

Be a speaker of kind words and see what a blessing it can be!  The LORD will help, because HE is there before we speak!
